Before proceeding with cutting, please conduct the following basic quality checks:

1. Verify the Correct Order: Ensure that the correct fabrics and quantities have been delivered as per your order.

2. Shade, Width, and Handle Variances: Fabrics are mass-produced, so there may be slight variations in shade, width, and handle between shipments. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to perform pre-checks before issuing the fabric to a CMT for cutting.

3. Testing for Printing: If you intend to print on our fabrics, we recommend testing each batch to assess shrinkage and ensure the print’s success. Factors like temperature and conditions can vary based on the fabric type and dye lot. High heat during printing may cause shrinkage, so fabrics may need to be pre-shrunk before printing.

4. Check Usable Width: Confirm the usable width of the fabric. If the width is narrower than expected, it could affect your rating. The correct width for each quality is listed on our website (under Qualities & Finishes) and on our price list.

5. Shading Check: Shading differences may occur, especially on peached fabrics, where the direction of the pile influences the color. Ensure the fabric is laid up accordingly.

6. Pressure Marks on Peached Fabrics: Due to the shipping process, pressure marks may appear on peached fabrics. These marks can resemble shading or dye issues but typically fade during manufacturing.

7. Coating on Coated Fabrics: Examine the coating on coated fabrics to ensure the coated surface is sewn to the inside of the garment. The coated side can be identified by looking at the selvedge for a slight residue or feeling the slight stickiness, which attracts dust. Scratching the surface will reveal the coated side, which will show up white.

8. Water Repellent Finish (W/R): Many of our fabrics have a water repellent (W/R) finish on the face side. You can verify this by placing a few droplets of water onto the fabric’s surface. If the water beads up and runs off, the fabric has a W/R finish. If the water soaks into the fabric, then the W/R finish is not present.
